I'm Carl Shan, one of the co-founders of Silicon Valley Prep. I will also be teaching two classes this year: Public Speaking & How to be a Highschool Superstar. I just wanted to update this thread with some more accurate information that I hope can help! It's copied below.
"[W]hen the programs started, I'm surprised to notice that the great things are happening to both my children...My son capitalized this a lot as he did have a few of one-on-one sessions with Teach Carl to learn the skills in personal manners, shed lots of his fears and get inspired to build his confidence...I'm SO happy with their such noticeable progress!!!Every single parent knows the importance of improvements of their children's public speech skills. Therefore, I believe many parents in Bay Area have sent their children into some sort of extracurricular classes before, and I'm of them. Here are my key observations how the SVPrep programs make a difference:1. Passion. The young teachers at SVPrep have shown their strong passion to pass their successful learning experience to their students. They went the extra mile and used their personal times to work with individual students, which you usually do not see in other summer programs.2. Age difference. All teachers are so young that they really understand their students while their students find easier to interact with their teachers. Meanwhile, the teachers still have authority that students follow their instructions."
"However, I think the camp should be longer so I could see Carl more and could learn more elements of life. But overall, this could be the highlight of my summer."
